This is a no star review!This "book" requires a lab access code that is not included.When you purchase the entirely separate access code the digital book is included.There is no reason to buy this item!
This book contains a large number of errors. I was evaluating it for use as a textbook for a class I am teaching, and abandoned it. I don't think the authors have a strong grasp of some of the material. For example, in a paragraph about ARP spoofing (which itself was somewhat out of place), they mention a 'Christmas tree attack' - first, it isn't an attack, it is a fingerprinting technique. Next, it's about TCP, which is two layers up from ARP. If you're not already familiar with networking, this example might not make sense, but suffice to say that this doesn't give anyone confidence in the accuracy of the information.
The kindle edition DOES NOT come with a lab code. I don't hate the book, it does seem to have good information in it and also reads well. Without the lab code, it is useless to me. The paperback version sold on amazon specifically states that there is no code, and I could not find any information in regards to the kindle version and whether or not it came with a code, so I purchased it. Amazon did refund my purchase and for that I am pleased. Hope this helps someone else looking for the same thing.
Overall, this book was decent. However, it was a requirement for a graduate-level course, yet it's content was at a freshman/sophomore level.
The font sizes were off and text didn't even fit the page. I tried adjusting them myself and it never seemed correct. I've had other books that open and look fine and I've never had to adjust a thing but something is off with this book.
I received my book new just like the way it is. I panicked a little bit because the card board box was literally opened in one side, but because it is doubly wrapped with another set of cardboard and plastic, this item's newness is preserved!
Not even the new book contains the access code, the main reason of me personally purchasing the book was for the access code. You're better off buying the access code separately and it even comes with the e-book.
This book does a great job explaining information systems security for someone who is in the IT field. I am pleased with the ease of understanding this book provides with its topics.
